Yes, You Need a Stylish Laundry Basket

I totally missed out. Recently, we were in the market for a new laundry basket, a purchase we make about every five years or so. Our basket usually hangs out in our closet, so it doesn’t need to be aesthetically pleasing, but I did want something that would spark maybe a tiny bit of joy when I toss my dirty clothes in.
I gave up pretty easily, not really giving much thought to interesting options in the laundry basket realm. We ended up purchasing a basic black basket at Costco. It was there, it was inexpensive, and hey, we had a huge cart and plenty of room. I was, in the days after our purchase, totally content with our new faux woven clothing receptacle, that is until I spotted PoumPoum Kids storage box.

PoumPoum kids has a worthy quest – “Our mission is simple: to transform the daily life of children into a colorful and inspiring adventure, while encouraging organization and creativity.”
Now, it should be noted, these baskets – from the French lifestyle company – are actually designed for kids in mind for toy or “childhood treasures” storage. The baskets are on the smaller size, clocking in at about 18” x 16” x 10”, but hey, that just means you’ll need to do laundry more often.
The baskets are hand woven from natural raffia and hand embroidered by craft people in Madagascar. Each one is unique, not one is identical to another. Since there is so much case put into each basket, these are heirloom quality and therefore they have a price that reflects that.

Personally, I love the Maison Toyko ($330), but also adore the Maison Paris ($371), the Maison NYC ($330), and Hotel Miami ($307). If you’d like something totally unique that reflects your own home or travels, they will create a custom storage basket based on your own photographs, drawings, and descriptions. The custom option also gives a larger size choice of 19” to 23” inches ($577).
